The results of the large-scale experiment on modernization of the water and communal services will be summed up on October, 24

On October 24, 2008 in Rostov-on-Don there will take place an extended scientific and technological council on concluding a large scale production experiment on treatment and disinfection of the surface water from the river Don, as a result of it there will be built a new water intake with the treatment facilities and water pipeline complex near village Dugino. Mass media representatives are invited to the event.

For the first time in Russia in the location of the prospective water intake there is a produced and assembled semi-industrial stand, which allowed modeling all main consequently realized technological processes of the complex disinfection and water treatment. A three-stage water treatment with modern physical and chemical methods is applied in the experimental production model. The experimental plant will be used for reasoning of technological parameters of the Don River water treatment processes and disinfection, which are the initial data for projecting a new water intake.

The complexity of the project design was related to the fact that source of water in the water intake area is subjected to the high anthropogenic load, caused by the discharge of the city treated sewage water higher up-stream river, in the area where the polluted Mertviy Donets flows into the river, because of fish-farm ponds, fetch salty water waves caused from the Azov Sea, long periods of the water high temperature and as a result intensive development of the blue-green algae and diatoms in it. 

Taking all the above-mentioned into consideration five flow diagrams for drinking water preparation offered by a number of Russian and foreign organizations have been compared technically and economically. As a result, a technology, developed at the Center of innovations in the area of water supply and water disposal GUP «MosvodokanalNIIproject» under the direction of Zhurba M.G., Doctor of Science of the Russian Federation, professor, Honored scientist of RF, has been chosen. The technology satisfies the requirements of the extended sanitary and hygienic security. 

The tests of the improved technology have been carried out together with the specialists of LLC «Evrasiyskiy  — project decisions», JSC «Vodokanal Rostov-on-Don», GUP  «MosvodokanalNIIproject» and FGUP «Rostov NII KX», with participation of the companies «Svarog», «Aquakhlor», «Ecofes», «Energeticheskiye aktivy».

The experimental model capacity is 50 m³ per day depending on the investigated technological modes. The experiment will result in construction of the new water intake with the complex of treatment facilities and water line from the water intake till south-western outskirts of Rostov with the capacity up to 300 thousand m³/day on the basis of the chosen technology. The construction will remove restrictions on Rostov infrastructural development and will help avoid long-distance transportation of water through the rugged relief with intensive city development, allow creating new housing community districts, including Liventsovskiy district.

Construction of new water intake with a complex of water treatment facilities and water lines is the main task of the first 5-year stage (2007—2011) of the investment project «Complex program of construction and reconstruction of water supply and water disposal objects in Rostov-on-Don and in the south-west of Rostov region». The project was initiated by JSC «Evrasiyskiy», it is realized together with the Administrations of Rostov region and Rostov-on-Don, included in the list of investment projects carried out with the assistance of the state by means of the funds of the Investments Fund RF (Order of the Government of the Russian Federation № 1375-Р dated 20.09.2008). In accordance with the present order, 6 660.29 million rubles from the federal budget funds is transferred to the budget of Rostov region for the realization of a complex program with the total cost of more than 33 billion rubles, more than 73% of them are investments from the private investor. 

As of today the private investor has fulfilled his obligations for the amount of more than 2 billion rubles. 

The heads of the Federal Ministries and Departments, Administrations of Rostov region and Rostov-on-Don have been invited for the solemn meeting to sum up the experimental results and start construction, which will take place on October 24, 2008 near village Dugino. 

Mass media representatives are invited to the event. They will be transported to the event location by «Vodokanal» transport.
